Mastonet auction HOCKEY

The Bobby Orr 66-67 #35 GAI 9.5

Looks like it sold for over 10,000 dollars with all the sheets of the other auctions not sure if this was a well thought out investment obviously a gamble as there are still some sheets out there. Nevertheless a rare card time will tell!!!!

The GAI 8 Bobby Orr also went for great coin but of course did not realize as much as PSA 8 usual results.

I won the gai 8 orr. I went 1 bid (about $500 ) more than I wanted although I still thought it was a great price. I messed up my bid strategy because I needed to wait to see what happened with the USA test card which I was high bidder on but got beat, I didn't want to win both so I had to wait. that card went for a decent price too. I think these 2 were much better deals than the 9.5 as the 9.5 most definately came from a sheet.
  • Hi Packcollector did you say you won lot number 1943 the GAI 8 as I did not see a PSA 8 on the Mastronet auction? Certainly a GAI 8 for 3400.00 I felt was a good buy also.

yes the gai 8, so many things going on at once crosses up the mind sometimes
  • Wasn't there an auction just a few months ago that featured tons of uncut sheets? I wonder how many they have left to introduce into the market?

tripoli, the mastro auction a few months ago had a large lot of around 100 uncut hockey sheets and this mastro auction had almost the same amount. i wonder who won these huge lots. any ideas? i wonder if they are going to sell individually or cut them up . i think both auctions went for around 30k!

  • Why pay these crazy prices if there appears to be a large supply? Also, it would appear from the description that I read (can't recall which year) that the border cards have significant wear from handling & storage over the years.
They still would make cool items to display but I suppose the center cards will be handcut and will appear on ebay in a month or so, in a GAI or BVG holder.

  • Is it possible that these are the same sheets, either they were returned or not paid for. Possibly whoever purchased them had intentions of cutting them but maybe some of these had hairline bends in them. The sheets would still be real nice but if you thought you could cut and grade them you were out of luck.
If it's worth doing..It's worth overdoing!!

Edited to add: Can anyone find any other examples of this card that are missing the white line on the right side? I see a PSA 7 on eBay but that one has the white line too -- Link

  • Sorry, let me rephrase. Can anyone locate an example of this card where the borders are relatively even and where there is not evidence of a white line on the right side of the card?
