Met a couple in a bar last weekend. They found out I knew about coins and asked if I would look at her silver dollars and let her know if she had anything. Old family collection that had been split up 3 ways. I told her if she had anything, I would E Bay it for her for 5%.
The FIRST freaking roll I looked at had 5 1893-S, one fine, 4 VF.
Next roll, 4 1889-CC, next roll 4 1894-P.
I'm a kid in a candy store. She has 3 safety deposit boxes and we only looked at one.
My mind is boggled!
She has ROLLS of circulated CC Morgans, 1891, 1892. She has some of the prettiest toned 1879-S i've ever seen because Granddad put a slip of paper with the date/mm in each and every Unc. roll.
First batch goes off to PCGS Monday. 1893-s, 1894, 1889-CC and 1928-P (8 of those, all Ms64 or MS65).
I wish I could have stripped naked and spent the entire night locked in the bank vault looking at these coins. No telling what is going to come of this and she says MOM STILL HAS THE GOOD STUFF!

Non-collectors might find that desire a little strange.
(I, however, can relate).

I haven't been able to confirm the 1893-s's, but there is no reason to believe counterfeit, yet.
I only got to spend 2 hours in the safety deposit vault today but I came out GIDDY. We went across the street to a bar and had a few and I explained PCGS to them (the best I could), told them it is a crap shoot but sometimes (OFTEN) worth it. Told her she would never get the money for a raw 93s as a PCGS 93s.
She agreed.
Haven't been able to evaluate 99% of these coins yet, but I suspect I have quite a few surprises yet to come.
I'll keep you informed but it will be next week before I get to go back in.
Did you "OUITE" drinking or QUIT drinking?
The spelling tells it all!
OK, I've had a few too. but I'm still GIDDY!

Let's see a modern collector do this!
put me on the list (top of the list please) for the 1893 S's
I have many contacts besides myself!
My wifes Catholic chursh has brought me many contacts including an almost complete1793 -1980 cent collection.
I treat everyone the same. I will get you the top money I can through auction, iff it's worth it.
Wow.
<< <i>It's amazing to hear that sometimes a non-collector lucks into something like that. >>
It's also nice to know that they aren't going to get ripped off as happens sometimes in these situations.

The stripping naked part makes one wonder...
Your right, here it is 2:30 am and I'm up. Can't wait to see what else is in there but the bank vault is closed on Saturday.
