OK, now for the trivia quiz...Throughout the late '50s and '60s Topps produced many "combo" cards featuring multiple players. Part of the charm of these cards were the corny titles that Topps unabashedly attached to them. So here we go -- I'll give you the title on the card and you give me the players and the year. One hint: each one of these cards will feature at least one HOFer.

First one: "Sluggers Supreme" (spelling counts on this one!)

To add one, there was another combo card issued in successive years with the same two players from the same team on it. The photo's werent exact but were definitely from the same photo shoot.

I love vintage combo cards. 63 Pride of NL is my favorite that I have so far. The 57 Yankees Power Hitters will be one of my dream pickups sometime in the future (even though I hate the Yanks, then and now).

Question. Would you consider League Leader cards when talking about combo cards?

Heres a hint for my question: Both people on the cards were unlikely candidates for combo cards and the card from the first year has probably the funniest title of any combo card.

Buc- I dont consider league leader cards as combo cards.

The combo cards I was referring to were the legendary "Lindy shows Larry" (what exactly was he showing Larry? ) from the 1961 set which was followed up by "Redbird Rippers" in 1962.

They both had pictures of the legendary Lindy McDaniel and Larry Jackson. Why Topps determined they needed combo cards of those two for ONE year escapes me, let alone TWO years.

PC - The DP combo card is one of the earliest that I remember getting in '66 from opening packs and its always been a sentimental favorite. But I agree, why these two? And where were the Cubs combo pics?

I always liked the combo cards though, especially the '58 (HOF'ers abound), '66 and '67 ones.

Buccaneer -- I don't consider league leader cards as combos, but view them as a separate subset of the base card set. Having said that, I love those leader cards. Here's a league-leader card trivia question: What Topps leader card featured the most HOFers? Name the year, the card, the number of HOFers and their names.

I know that they are a different subset but I think a card that has Aaron, McCovey, Mays and Cepeda (64 NL HR leaders) is pretty cool, even if they were not taken in a group shot.

Good job Magellan! That's Banks and Aaron behind Mantle & Mays, and do you see what's behind all of them? It's the Green Monster -- the photo was taken at the 1961 All-Star Game at Fenway!

Good guess on the LL card question, but not quite -- there's a card that features more HOFers than either the '64 NL HR or '67 NL Pitching cards.

From memory, doesn't the '70 NL pitching leaders have 6 guys on there- probably Seaver, Jenkins, Niekro,Gibson, Marichal, maybe Gaylord Perry? That would beat this one.

No, that was the 1970 AL Pitching Leaders. Six guys with no hall of famers (McClain, Cuellar, Boswell, McNally, J. Perry, Stottlemyre). I was thinking the same card myself.

Nope, '70 NL Pitching Leaders has 4 HOFers: Seaver, Niekro, Jenkins & Marichal. '67 NL Pitching Leaders has 4 too: Koufax, Marichal, Gibson & Perry.

I'm going to suggest that the 1963 Topps National League HR Leaders card was not the card that showed the most hall of fame players, but there is at least one that showed six. Hint: It is not a leader card, and it's from the 1960s.

Good luck! Once discovered, we can search for one with seven (although I don't have one yet).

How about the '65 SF Giants team card -- according to the Bible (i.e. The Baseball Encyclopedia) that team had six future HOFers: Mays, Cepeda, McCovey, Marichal, Perry & Spahn (playing out the string...)

Who was the 7th on the '56 Dodgers? I only count those six on their roster...and I'm stumped on the other '50s team with seven. Uncle!

You forgot the manager for the 1956 team, Walter Alston.

The other one was the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers (get rid of Big D and add little Tommy Lasorda).
