Here are a few vintage beauties I picked-up at my first National (trivia at the end of the post...)
1972 Topps #299 Hank Aaron
1958 Topps #476 Stan Musial All-Star
1958 Topps #487 Mickey Mantle All-Star
1963 Topps #25 Al Kaline
1963 Topps #550 Duke Snider
And saving the best for last...
1963 Topps #540 Roberto Clemente
OK, now for the trivia quiz...Throughout the late '50s and '60s Topps produced many "combo" cards featuring multiple players. Part of the charm of these cards were the corny titles that Topps unabashedly attached to them. So here we go -- I'll give you the title on the card and you give me the players and the year. One hint: each one of these cards will feature at least one HOFer.
First one: "Sluggers Supreme" (spelling counts on this one!)

#3) "Destruction Crew"
I'll have to look around a bit. The other two I knew by heart.
I'll be back.

Great pickups by the way! Nothin like good ol' raw vintage material!
#4) "Tiger Twirlers"
Nice cards from the National, looks like you spent some time at set builders!
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
Here's #5) "American League Kings"

#6) Who were the four players identified as "Friendly Foes" on two different combo cards? Name the players and the years.
1964 Topps #41 Willie McCovey and Leon Wagner
#7) Which slugging teammates appeared together on combo cards for two consecutive years? These two players were the only ones pictured on both cards. Name this pair of players, the titles of the cards and the years.
1966 #99 "Buc Belters"
1967 #266 "Pitt Power"
#8) For these two combo cards produced two years apart, Topps used the same exact photo (the second was cropped a little tighter than the first). Name the two players (remember, one's a HOFer), the years, the titles and the card numbers.
I cant find it anywhere.
1962 Rival League Relief Aces - The same.
To add one, there was another combo card issued in successive years with the same two players from the same team on it. The photo's werent exact but were definitely from the same photo shoot.
Question. Would you consider League Leader cards when talking about combo cards?
Buc- I dont consider league leader cards as combo cards.
card #156
the two worst hitters of their era
with ruben amaro a close 3rd
Dick Schofield and Hal Lanier!
here's a scan via a link
perverted duo
Am I missing something? If it said BJ combo, then yeah, funny. But I'm just young and as you folks say, square
.
edited to add pic. lazy old ba$tards
They both had pictures of the legendary Lindy McDaniel and Larry Jackson. Why Topps determined they needed combo cards of those two for ONE year escapes me, let alone TWO years.
PC - The DP combo card is one of the earliest that I remember getting in '66 from opening packs and its always been a sentimental favorite. But I agree, why these two? And where were the Cubs combo pics?
I always liked the combo cards though, especially the '58 (HOF'ers abound), '66 and '67 ones.
Here's my favorite combo card:
1962 Topps #18 "Manager's Dream"
Now here's a question for this one: How many HOFers are on this card?!?!
But there's another LL card that features even more HOFers, does anyone know which one?
Also, did you take a look at the "Manager's Dream" card above? Notice who else is in the photo?
'67 NL Pitching Leaders? Gibson, Koufax, Marichal, & Perry?
Now collecting:
Topps Heritage
1957 Topps BB Ex+-NM
All Yaz Items 7+
Various Red Sox
Did I leave anything out?
Good guess on the LL card question, but not quite -- there's a card that features more HOFers than either the '64 NL HR or '67 NL Pitching cards.

1963 Topps #3 NL HR Leaders
Anyone else want to pick up the thread and ask us any baseball card trivia?
I'm going to suggest that the 1963 Topps National League HR Leaders card was not the card that showed the most hall of fame players, but there is at least one that showed six. Hint: It is not a leader card, and it's from the 1960s.
Good luck! Once discovered, we can search for one with seven (although I don't have one yet).

Edited to say: The one you just gave had 7 as well!

The other one was the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers (get rid of Big D and add little Tommy Lasorda).
Whew! Now I can go to bed and worry about my MastroNet bid.
Good night!
