HI All,
after reading several posts here and looking through the archives, and at two sites I found online, I have been experimenting with my Epson 2450 Perfection scanner - tilting the slab a bit, using a black cloth background and slightly altering the gamma and exposure of the scan. I am scanning 19th /20th Century toned Proof sliver 10c at 1200 DPI and am now getting rather beautiful scans that actually are pretty darn representative of the coins - even capturing cameo contrast too. I have learned a bit more about cropping from the responsed to my post earlier today. This is the reverse of my PCGS Pr63CAM 1892, and the obverse of my 1880 PCGS Pr64. I think much closer to the originals the the previous scans which I post for comparison. Well, what do you think? Should I continue experimenting? New scans have black backgrounds...and are much more accurate in color to the coins.
Here this new scan of the obverse of my 1880 PCGS Pr64 - compare with original scan below...this new scan looks much more like the coin.
All opinions appreciated - thank you!
