Its easy to spot because it looks real neat, instead of excessively hairy.
Next question?
Here is a link to a discussion just recently on the topic.
One key note - depending on how it is trimmed, it may be obvious like a wavy effect to the border or just look too good to be true. PSA will not accept any card that measure more than 1/32" short or shows evidence of trimming. So if you have a Pro or Gem graded card 1/16" it's a problem and if it gets real cold this winter, you can use them for kindling or something.

I was certainly being facetious when I posted a reply to the original poster.....I wasn't sure if the post was baiting or with real intent.
If it was the former, I didn't expect a response; if it was made in good faith, I still hope the poster had a healthy sense of humor.
I did however, appreciate the link you supplied to the posts before my time. I would never have seen them and would be a bit more naive than I am now.
I was especially concerned by KallMalone comments that we should assume all modern cards are trimmed. Am I the only one who sees this as problematic ?

First, I thought you were just having some fun.
Second, this discussion has been going on forever and there is no clear cut answer.
I agree with Kall that there are some really crafty guyz out there who we have followed in the past with definite evidence - one that comes to mind was the purchase of a numbered auto card, I wanna say #55, which miraculously appears in a 10 holder lacking the problematic lower left hand corner "touch".
So, everyone can draw their own conclusions as to how widespread it it. There has been talk of known trimmers who travel with their equipment ready to trim and submit 'on site' for a quick flip.
The one solution which would be very, very unfair - only grade cardz that are exactly the proper dimension but that is not practical.

Mike, again not to sound facetious....any two bit stationer in my neighborhood with limited funds and equipment can cut my business cards in a uniform and consistent size; why can't card companies in the 21st century do that?

I don't think you are being facetious - I have said that before - if they can send men to the moon, put a landing craft on mars, explore the floor of the ocean, neatly and concentrically place pimento into olives - then why can't they cut cardz sharp and square and centered!
Some of the cheapest branz like AAA minor league cards are cut unbelievably well. What the heck is that all about.

I just recently opened a box of 2004-05 Fleer Ultra Basketball and ran into this very thing. I'm not sure that a single one of the Gold Medallion cards in the box is cut to the same size. They're all stacked together in front of me right now and it is impossible to get the stack to line up together.

Do you think the seller knew or had any complicity in the "alleged" trimmed cards? Did that influence their decision to refund you?
If you feel the seller was involved, would you post their Ebay ID so we can all know who to avoid?
Thanks.
