Im gonna start picking up now at shows on Jefferson Nickels and Rooseveltt dimes that are pretty well worn that are almost at face value. Im only gonna get alittle bit at each show. Its gonna be sorta an experiment. I really wanna have some precious metal that I have lots of in the future just incase I need it, or the market goes way up. Im thinking i'll maybe get a couple of rolls each year of each type, with no regard to date or grade. I already have twenty ounces of silver at home. I don't know why but I love silver.

uhhhh is nickel a precious metal? I think I would at least stick with silver dimes vs. clad.

Like Jr G Man, I too am interested in hearing why you feel as you do. It's a fact that the US Mint's silver stockpile has basically been depleted. So far they'ye been fortunate in finding replacement silver to hit the melting pots. As you may or may not know, SAEs are available strictly to authorized dealers. I'm not at all sure, but my instincts tell me there must be an "agreement" between the Mint and said dealers.
This IS JMHO, but I have a feeling these dealers may in turn, for these exclusive rights, have to supply the Mint with all the silver they take in for melt at a set rate. This would be entirely speculation on my part, but this could very well be why we have not seen a re-birth of another silver boom as transpired back in 79-80.
Sooner or later all this junk silver will run out and indeed the Mint will be FORCED to purchases from outside sources, at which time the dirt cheap prices of today will cease and once again silver will explode and those that are sitting on it will reap the rewards! JMHO.
So I had to hurry and put half on the other side to even it out.
I tried a huge safe in the attic but the ceiling started to give way even though we re-enforced it.
Thought about under the house but man, this La. and they have spiders, snakes and alligators round here!
Now, the Pitt Bull stands guard 24/7 and she doesn't like anyone at all. NOBODY!!

You need to do some more research my friend. Kodak is still one of the largest silver purchasers in the world.
