Nice,, isn't that a board members??????????? Someone made one here that was early and I thought it was a 36.

I've always liked early cam copper. Jumped all over a 1950 in 5-UCAM a few months ago and still have that bug inside for more. Hmmmm,, that may explain my icon,, something I never thought ofimage

Umm, my thought was that it was a 1937 that Mr Sadysta here made, and it was a doubled die reverse as well. I didn't know of anyone here making a 36 cam. Beautiful early proof, and truly a gem rarity!!

Yes Merz2,, thought that was it, just wasn't sure. BYW what is with the "Brilliant " part of the designation?? It's a cam and a brilliant,, Struck me as odd and something I don't recall seeing before.

Probably to differentiate between the brilliant finish opposed to satin finish proof.

Here is one I made a few months ago - rescued from an old non-cameo ANACS holder.
Sorry for the crummy pic - I am still working on my setup.

  • Wow, great find Cameonut!

Hopefully Merz2 will chime in and let us know if the '36 was his.

That 1936 is weakly cam. I can't believe the auction price. I've seen picts of the 1937 cam here and that one has a nice cameo contrast. That 1936 just has a bit with several areas in the devices and lettering that are just brilliant proof.

Almost positive that the last one they report a price realized for didn't actually sell as I remember it was in post auction bargains for quite a while after that "alleged" sale. I think the price is WAY too high (as a multiple of the non-cam 64RD's) for such a weak cameo - just IMHO.

Merz, this coin could be a monster cam for all we know. Heritage is notorius for their crappy pictures

In fact, this might be the same coin as their previous "alleged" sale since the cert # ( 50073759 ) of the one that "sold" back on 5/4/04 now comes up as "The selected PCGS Certification Number 50073759, was not found in the PCGS Certification Database." when you do a cert verification on it. I beleive it is the same coin they re-submitted raw in hopes for an upgrade - and the pop may in fact still be only 1 though.
