First proof photo

Learning how to image coins and this is my first attempt on a proof coin. The obverse came out nice I think. I need to work on the reverse image though. The coin is graded PR68 by PCGS. Nice cameo frost on the obverse, but the reverse doesn't make it. I had to get the lighting right down on the coin practically to get the contrast and the holder started getting hot quick! Anyways I'm having fun taking pics now, but it takes alot of practice to get a nice one.

Don, that's a decent pic. It's also a nice looking 52 proof.

Looks like you're figuring it out pretty quickly.

Not bad at all! Another good trick is to place a piece of dark paper above the coins--bring out the black mirrors.

It looks like the reverse shot may be a little out of focus.

I should be taking delivery tomorrow (Wed.) of my new macro lens for my camera. Time to start burning some pixels!

I took this one with the light reflecting off the mirrors. Just a little different effect.

You got a good shot of the obverse, maybe practice on the reverse

Thanks Relayer. I took 18 separate images of that reverse and that was the best one.

For some reason my camera wasn't cooperating. Maybe the next one will come out better.

Nice coin and pic. I once had a large cent that I could not get a decent reverse image of. Give it a break and come back in a few hours...maybe it'll work then.
