To dream, perchance to dream. Tonight's cherry -- a 1955 proof Jefferson -- for $8.50. First coin I've looked at or bid on in eBay in a month. If the reverse is as good, this could be huge. Pardon my gushing ... I had almost forgotten what it was like to win what could be a good coin at a bottom dollar ... And, I am owed some measure of numismatic revenge on Russ for scoring that pair of 1967 SMS Jeff MS-67 DCAMs. I feel good ...
Oh, and I forgot to mention it comes with a bonus .. a circulated '57 Roosie in a snaplock Whitman ...
Update: Coin arrived today ... It's an all-there, no-doubt DCAM, with deep cake frost and those deep watery mirrors that accompany the first few coins off a new die pair. Not the slightest hint of any shine on devices, including in the outside arches of Monticello. No hairlines, beautifully preserved. Only nitpicks are one tiny planchet flaw on lower left obverse field and another tiny planchet flaw on reverse above the V of FIVE. I'll say PR-67 DCAM, although I would not be surprised at all to see it go 68. It has those 69 mirrors/luster. This will be headed in this week with some other coins for my Collectors' Club freebies. These are the kind of rips that make this hobby so much fun! Sorry for lack of pix. If it does not go DCAM, I will kiss Al's and Russ' butts at high noon at next (and first) Registry event I make! I hope that gives you a sense of how wonderful this coin is ...
