Fake Gold ???? Your past experience

I do not collect or have any knowledge about gold coins. All I know is what I have learned just by watching and keeping up with the salvage of the S.S. Republic. Anyway...my question....Has anyone had any experience with NTC graded gold coins? I only worry about them being authentic. I can see for myself whether or not I would want it for a type set. I just don't want to get stuck with a counterfeit piece if I can help it. I knew if put NTC in the title this wouldn't even get looked at probably. NTC's grading has a lot to be desired, I have PCGS cross"lowered" a few Kennedy halves until I come to my senses. But, I figured if I could trust the authenticity, and saw a good deal for what I figured the grade to be, it would be ok. Any thoughts? I saw a few at a coin show that I thought were priced very reasonable, but I didn't bite.
I don't intend to seek out NTC gold coins, just if I came across some again.

It's up to you but I would never buy a gold coin in an NTC holder. It sounds like your knowledge of gold is about like mine... zip. A person who really knows gold could maybe get a good deal but unless you are a pro be very careful.
