OK . . . Have the dealers 'brown-nosed' YOU???

The reverse of stman's question. Have you experienced preferential treatment (i.e. a first-shot at something . . . better buy prices than what you expected on an odd item or two . . . a call or email on a piece that arrived, etc.) from a dealer who may be hoping to get the bulk of your better pieces when (if) you decide to sell?

First shot on better coins only happens after YOU have qualified yourself.

Not yet, but the more money I put into their coffers will probably increase my chances.

Heh, good one. And yes I've been offered first shot on a few coins. I qualify because when receiving a coin on approval, I let the dealer know I received it as soon as possible. I also make a pretty quick decision whether to keep the coin or return it. Which most of the time I keep it due to great communication, ask the right questions etc. etc. And most of all, I go out of my way to get them a FAST check right back at them.

  • Does laughing at my coin budget qualify as being brown nosed? image

I cannot say I have ever been brown-nosed by a dealer. I have had dealers be very nice to me but I don't think it was brown-nosing. I think they were just nice dealers.

"Wow, you really have an eye for coins... you looked at all my nicest stuff!"

I usually get that one after

    a. Buying something expensive, and the dealer hopes that I have bottomless pockets and will come back.
    b. Accidentally buying a hairlined coin the dealer was happy to be rid of.
