    I'd also recommend a live auction. They're a bit of fun. Don't expect to find rare n' cheap coins though. You'll also need to know your grading if you are buying.

    Observations:
    1.) I don't buy on ebay. I've regreted all my ebay purchases. Some of the items, just plain sucked, some were okay (and in my collection), but on the whole won't buy on ebay again. NOTE to dealers and numismatic kops; the krap on ebay killed this buyer, will kill others. Its in your self interest to police the junk on ebay, because it directly affects the hobby.
    2.) So I do quite a few live auctions, almost 1/week. And I find;
    common coins-realized prices are dropping,
    mid-range rare/key dates-realized flat to moderate increase,
    true rare/key-insane increases in realized.

    I'm thinking....bubble. Has all the signs. Suspect ebay buyers are behind the curve, so they might be paying 'strong' for commons, for a while.

    Live auctions seem to get prices driven up by the emotion of it all. IMHO. That's okay, be good on your grading, be good on your pricing, have a good time.

    Michael,

    I'll try to make it down to the auction but my wife is having a yard sale so I have to see how things go with that.

    Anyway...hope it goes well.

    I have just returned from this auction.Ksteelheader and I rode down together.There were maybe (20)people in attendence.It seemed most were collectors like Ken and myself.There was something for everyone,circulated and MS coins.Some were slabbed most were not.I saw ANACS,PCGS,and NGC holders.I myself went to look at a raw 1955 DDO Lincoln.It was a genuine coin,and IMHO it was AU55.The only problem with it that I and the buyer agreed,it had been lightly cleaned/dipped sometime.The buyer was a collector and paid over $600 for it.I say all of this just to show that there are some nice coins even in some small auctions,in the middle of nowhere.
    Don
    Registry 1909-1958 Proof Lincolns
