Need some advice from the board.

Hey guys,

Me again.... like I've said before I've been reading the board for weeks and I'm humbled to post. I'm about to make the switch from modern cards to vintage cards. For the most part, they just have more meaning to me. The only modern cards I'll be collecting are of the few players that are special to me and players of the two NFL teams that I really love, (those being the Packers and the Browns).

Anyway, here's my question.

Over the years I have accumulated a few monster boxes worth of football cards ranging from the late 80's up to today. I've taken the time to seperate all the cards into the different teams. I'm planning on selling them in team lots. What advice would anyone have as to how I go about this.... specificaly, what catagory I should list under... What would anyone in these types of lots be looking for.... Has anyone else on here tried lot listing like this? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm really not looking to make any kind of money off of this. I know this is going to sound corny but I'd really just like to get these cards back out to people that can enjoy them for what they are. I just want to make sure they get some exposer.

Thanks alot

    Few suggestions:

Not Ebay, probably wont be worth the time/money to list/sell/ship. You state you are not looking to make money but you dont want to loose money either. image

    1. Community Yard Sale
    2. Donate to a local Charity (I send mine to Childrens Hospital in DC)
    3. Mix em up pack em up give out for Holloween.
    4. Give them (not all gauge the amount by the parent) to some single parents at the office for their children.

  • Agent21,

Your a true collector! It's not always about the money. I give cards out all the time. Neighborhood kids, workmates, and collectors. As long as I don't need them and they enjoy or need them, I'm happy. Plus at some time or another the favor will be returned.

If you have bulk I suggest donating them and getting a reciept for the true value. It makes for a great tax write-off. I think I donated about 25,000 cards at one time, with 80's rookies, star card...the works. Some kids out there are very happy.
