Auburn Ma. Coin Show report

Arrived at the show around 8. I didn't bring a ton of stuff, and basically crammed as much as I could into one display case.

Man was it busy! Almost every dealer planning on heading to Pittsburgh was scouring the floor looking for anything even remotely decent to bring to that show.

The floor was very active, with plenty of "traffic" in the aisles. As with the just passed Westford Ma. show, plenty of collectors seemed to be hunting down circulated better date coins, looking to complete albums and such. More so than I've usually seen, and worthy of making a point of.

I was barely able to float around looking for any new coins. Picked up a little of this and that. I really didn't have time to leave my table, and had to skip out just after lunch.

I had a few board members stop by my table, which is always enjoyable.

I didn't notice anything else out of the ordinary for an otherwise very busy late summer show.

  • I bought two very nice raw Jeffersons from BigD5. One was FS (1947-D) and another was a Silver with super luster and a die crack on the reverse (1945-D). I met "ernie" and "sadysta1" too. I had a great time. I also bought a 1938-D Buffalo in a PCGS "rattler" slab that looked real nice from Ron's Collector Coins who happen to be Yankees fans! image

You know Frattlaw, I did see a couple. The problem was that I had seen the coins raw, and the dealer had them graded ms/64, and I didn't grade them that high. The color was attractive, but not "great".

Well, he sent the coins in to NGC, and one came back ms/62, and the other ms/63. The 3rd coin ended up in a PCI gold slab, so I imagine it was bagged at NGC. The prices were "crazy", in my opinion for what the coins offered, eye appeal wise.

Yeah, that's usually the case with these coins. I'm just glad I got most of mine before this occurred. I can't tell you how many bargains I picked up along the way.
