At my local coin show yesterday the resident errors guy (he is pretty sharp, too) was telling me about it.

We were just discussing the mint's procedures and trying to understand how a single squeeze process could produce a doubled die. Of course, the obvious answer is that they never have totally gone over to a single squeeze process for all their die preparation. He was convinced it was doubled, though. He's sharp on them. I've learned a lot about how to look for them from him.

Definitely a doubled die, no question about it...both the obverse and reverse. Unfortunately Mr. Wiles of CONECA doesn't think the obverse warrants listing even though it's a doubled die. I thought the job of the attributor was to list what's out there, not be the judge of what people collect.

Oh well, I list what's out there in my system and let the collectors be the judge of whether they will collect it.

Thanks for the replies. I was curious if anyone had any more info such as descriptions of the doubling on both sides, or photos.

Do you have this one listed on your site? I'll check shortly as I've been back and forth on the computer all day. image

No I do not have it listed on my site. I first have to receive one to study and photograph it. Since I am not a party to the inner circle I don't see them unless one of my friends or someone here happens to find one. I can wait.

It is so minor and there must be a gazillion of them that they will not ever go to the $6K range, maybe $50 bucks for an MS69.
