  • Steve: Way to go - a great coin. There's no way of getting around it - the Morgan Dollar is
one of the most beautiful American coins ever minted. Especially, when toned.

That's a coincidence, I just recently bought this 79 from a fellow board member, and the 79 with bag toning is not very common.

Wonder if those two came out of the same bag. Before these two, I had not seen a 79 with bag toning for some time.
  • As i said before.....Amazing coin!image

I just bought a 82-cc with similar toning to that of k6az's. I love the bag toned Morgans! Great coins to both!

Should have bid more Tom. If you look at my registry set, you would see that coin was perfect for it. My proxy on that coin was over $340.

So Eric, it was YOU that had that eBay auction end early! I had that on my 'Watch List' and was severely disapointed when the auction was ended early.

(I'm glad it went to a good home though... image )

That auction ended normally. If it ended early, my snipe wouldn't have gone through!

Eric, of course you're right. (Wrong coin.) I'M the one that wrote that Seller and asked him to kill the auction early and he wouldn't. He was polite about it, but wouldn't budge.

Well, I'm still happy it went to a good home.

That kind of color with that date is near improbable to find. Nice catch!
(FYI: My offer was higher than the closing price of the auction so you got a good deal too...)

Yes, that color is rare on a 79, which is why it is so interesting two of them appeared at the same time.

I'm puzzled though. If your offer was higher than the closing bid, why didn't you bid that amount? (I know what it was, I still would have got it though it would have cost me a few more bucks)

Eric, quite frankly, I was going to snipe it at the last minute and got distracted, missing the auction!

OK, I understand. That is why I use Vrane. I remember one time I loaded a snipe, and the snipe was placed while I was in Boston. I've used Vrane for years without any problem.
