Topps Originals Baseball

I was just going through the latest Beckett Baseball magazine and saw an advertisement for Topps Originals Baseball. I only get the magazine because they discontinued their Vintage magazine before my subscription expired. I probably would never have seen this product otherwise. Apparently this series is issued in single card packs with a guaranteed official autograph from 1 of 150 different retired players on one of their original cards. In addition, there is a 1/1 autograph from each player randomly distributed. It seems to me that this is Topps' way of getting vintage only collectors to experience the thrill of pack busting and perhaps convince them to buy some modern as well.

Definitely looks like a cool product for anyone interested in autographed cards. I don't think I've read about it on these boards yet. Has anybody had a good experience with it yet? How much do packs cost? Boxes? Cases?

Stay away from busting packs....just buy the autos off of eBay.

There are several threads on the Beckett boards about this product.

But hey..if you want to pay $50 for a 1987 Topps Jimmy Key Autograph....go for it!

Im glad that someone mentioned this for those who would be interested in ripping them. I have posted
several times on the beckett boards about this product.

I was very excited about it until a few days before I saw a checklist and couldn't believe what topps had
planned. The pictures on the brochure picture cards of Mays and Berra 52's and 54's and many cards
in the 60's. The reality is that 85% of the buy backs are from the late 80's and 90's. At 50 bucks a
pack this is a ripoff. You are much better off buying singles, and I still think that this is a cool idea.

There was a Hank Aaron 1/1 RC Auto that sold for just under the price of three boxes (18 packs).....and what is the
odds on the pack of pulling a RC 1/1.....1:238 packs or.....8000 bucks!

I have been waiting on ebay to pick up a nice 78 Schmidt auto for under 40 bucks! The singles really are nice
and are cheap and from what I can see in decent condition.

Singles are the way to go!
