New Nickels in PCGS slabs

ms70ms70 Posts: 13,954 ✭✭✭✭✭

Has PCGS been slabbing all of these with the reverse forward? I've only seen two in slabs & both were reverse forward.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

All of mine had the reverse forward and I did not request it.

I bought a couple from a Forum member, and they were both "reverse forward", too. I kinda like 'em that way.

  • When I first submitted my 2004-D Peace Medal Jeffs to PCGS, all were slabbed obverse foward. A month later the opposite was true with my 2004-Ps. All slabbed nickels were from US Mint bags I bought back in the Spring and submitted soon after. I noticed "star" NGC toned Morgans with reverse toning only were slabbed reverse foward.
  • I purchased both proofs - one was obverse forward and the other was reverse forward.

I believe both were slabbed at the same time. I'll have to check the coin numbers.

I don't have any yet, but my preference would be reverse forward, rather like SQs.

I would prefer the reverse up , with emphasis on the new design element.

I don't know about "pcgs slabs" but I push my new nickels as well as my state quarters,
into my whitman folders with my two thumbs, so that the reverse faces forward.

My statehood proof reg set has the first 5 clad (1999) with the obv facing forward, which is pretty rare and very hard to find, although im sure theres alot out there...I wouldnt give em up for the life of me...any jeffs with the obv forward id put a death grip on, just my opinion

AFAIK, you can ask PCGS to slab any coin reverse or obverse up, so I don't think there'd be any appreciable premium on SQs with obv up. If there was, everybody would reslab theirs that way.
  • Just curious - I haven't seen any statistics yet, but how are the Peace Nickels grading with the bad strike, etc.? Any good grades?
I saw a bunch of DCAMs on eBay, but also was wondering how they are selling the Keelboat designs so quickly. I ordered the first day, and have not gotten my yet - how do they get such a quick turnaround on receiving nickels and getting them graded so quickly at a reasonable price in order to turn around and make a profit like that????????
