No, No, No...Monk, as in one who lives the contemplative life. Not Monkey, as in one who poos in his bed.
No, It's really a very nice coin. You do ask a very astute question.
I've been considering selling my whole collection, and thought that the demand for this one would
be greater. But alas, there are not enough true Franklin Fanatics abiding in this forum.
As to the question of you having seen this before, I suppose it's possible.

  • Do you have any for sale Supercarcoins?

I've been on the Fence since my son was born.
Yes, there was a time when I probably was one of the top Franklin Collectors in the country. But that was years ago. With the exception of a very few collectors, I know that my set rated by eye appeal, has got to be one of the prettiest. I got back into it a few years ago, and then had a son. It changed my thinking qute a bit.
Now I buy a coin or two a year, compared to years ago when I was buying a coin or two a week.

  • my Dear Monk -
small world my friend ; i too had a set , was marvolous !! sold it piecemeal over past few years for near 40,000 $ !!!!!
I still have over 200 PCGS slabs left in the vault , but most of the hi-powered rainbow stuff is long gone.
About 3 months ago i too had a wee little baby come into our family !! And how - doe's it ever change one's priorities
. you know - i built my set over a 15 year period -always bought the best and payed through the arse to draw the monster pieces to me.
    I figure maybe , and i mean MAYBE - I made a 10 % profit when i sold ;
hardly a good return on my investment.................
Hey - do you still talk with Mickey , Davey , Peter or any of the other Monkee's ??image
  • MadMonkMadMonk Posts: 3,743
Boy can I relate. Over the past 25 years, I've let some monsters out of my Clutches!
I have about 80 left out of about 300.
I also sold mostly everything that wasnt a Franklin.
Congrats on the birth of your child! It is a wonderful thing.
You must be a true Franklin Expert if you can see the Merits of this 48-D. I salute you!
As far as the Monkees, No, Last time I saw them, they were doing shooters with Froto.

Now, Somebody Buy this coin before I change my Mind!image

  • .not Froto ; your thinking of Frito - the famous cornchip bandit .
You must mean Ringo - he was the bass player of Mott The Hoople , a sheester band that invaded U.S.A from India back in the 60's !!
And lordy yes - would trade all my coins for that feeling of love when my baby looks deep into my eyes image

  • Dang hard coin to find that nice! looka like a manly coin!

Most of the 66's I see of this date/mm are very marginal, there is even a white one floating around out there in a PCGS holder graded MS66 that is really a MS64 in my opinion.

Nope, havent sold it. I'm not pushing it right now. This is a dyno-mite coin. Once I fenagle a few thing with my set, I may sell the whole thing.
I doubt we have ever met, but it's obvious you know Franklins. So that might be fun, but only if you bring your Franklins.
All the trees in my area have been cut down, so I'm relegated to a cave.

It is quite possible. We are old school Franklin collectors. We are subtle, humble, and lovable.
