1864 2 Cent UNC Error

I have inherited a 1864 2 cent piece. I believe it to be UNC. The reverse is
rotated a little more than 90 degrees from the obverse.

Does anyone know what this coin might be worth or someone that might
be interested in purchasing an error coin like this?

Rotated reverses are common, or fairly common on 1864 2c coins, and are not worth any substantial premium, although they do have that "neat" factor depending on die characteristics.

If you have some pic's there are more than a few of us that would be happy to give you a reasonable offer on your coin if you could provide them.

References are a big plus too.

Are you just spamming the board looking for people to buy your stuff?
  • The 1864 Two cent piece is at the top of the list along with the 1807 Large cent as the most common US coins known to exist with major die rotation and is really only worth book value for what ever grade the coin is. Occasional you can find the uninformed collector who will pay a premium for a coin but the experienced collector knows there are so many pieces available that they do not have to pay a premium for this type of error on the 1864 two cent piece. On any given day you will usually find a number of them for sale on Ebay.

  • Thanks RotatedRainbow...... that was the info I was looking for.
