Is this a Chinese milled cash coin?

I'm new to this (coins AND forums). My research so far indicates that this may be a Chinese milled cash coin from the Qing Dynasty - Kuang Hsu T'ung Pao, with Manchu mintmarks - Boo Gung Kungchang Kansu. It's thin, brass in color, and the diameter of a U.S. quarter. If this info is correct, it is probably a common old coin. Any comments, ideas or opinions?

  • It is from the Guangdong mint not the Kansu mint.

  • It's Y-190 under Kwangtung in the Standard Catalog of World Coins. Over 1.059 billion were struck 1890-1908. Catalogs from .10 in F to $2 in Unc. I just got an extra in VF if anyone's interested.

    Yes, Guangdong it is, and pretty common to boot. I rather like them though.

    Yes- you're right- some of those later ones were milled rather than cast.

    I might have one or more of them. I bought a nice hoard of cash coins about five years ago and stuck them all in a bag and forgot them. Most were from Guangdong. I sent the rarest one to NGC awhile back and it came back MS61.

  • It was so happy to get yours and the other responses. But now, what's UNC and VF?

    UNC means Uncirculated
    VF means Very Fine

    coin condition abreviations. Coins grade from 01 to 70. 01 being the worst (or 00?) and 70 being a perfect coin.
    P = Poor
    F = Fine
    VF = Very Fine
    AU = About Uncirculated
    BU = Brilliant Uncirc
    MS = Mint State (kind of the same as BU)
    PF = proof...or is it PR....image
    PL = Proof Like
    DM = Deep mirror (talking about the coin field...the blank area with nothing on it)

    I probably missed some....but thats the common abreviations.
