John Howard was a tireless champion for prison reform in England and the rest of Europe. He spent most of his adult life working to improve the conditions of prisoners. John Howard societies still exist throughout the world, especially in Great Britain and Canada.

This months Conder Token Collector's Journal has an interesting article on John Howard. He is remembered on a number of tokens.

This and my Coventry, Warwickshire need upgrading. I bought them before I knew what I was doing (not that I think I know what I'm doing now, but...).
