The bst member missed that one, that just goes to show you, grading by photographs is hit and miss?

Jim, I was really shocked that coin did not sell for $48. It is pretty, and I graded it very conservatively as a 64. That is the same image I used on the BST board.

    Eric,

I just PM you, but anyway.

If that's is the photo you posted, somebody sure blew it on that one, That coin is clearly nice! Worked out better for you, All the folks who passed up the coin at 48.00 will be in line to buy it at 300+ now?

I'm not going to sell it. While this coin was at PCGS, I bought another very pretty 66 from Legend. I like both very much, so I'll just keep both of them.

There are a lot of folks out thier that wont even consider a coin no matter how nice unless graded by a Top TPG. Probably with good reason with all the rip off's and junk abound. I have had indian cents, buffalo nickes and such raw that were damn nice, and have several people look, but not intrested, then send it in and they come back graded most of the time higher and wham, everybody and thier brother wants to bu it for nearly twice as much than it was when it was raw?

Exactly Jim. And I think the reason for this is too many collectors are lagging on learning how to grade. That's OK, I'm very comfortable with my grading, and will continue to buy raw coins that no one else wants because they aren't in plastic.

image I second that! Sure I have made a couple of mistakes, but they are mistakes that I won't make again. A majority of my collection is comprised of coins that I bought raw and had slabbed. I would have NEVER been able to afford them if they had already been holdered. This is where a little time, patience, and hitting the reference books can really pay off! Sorry if this meandered away from topic- but a good point to address.
