Hit Counters...do they mean much to you???

tsacchtsacch Posts: 2,929 ✭✭✭
Say your looking at some coins to buy on the bay of E........you see the Andale hit counter at the bottom of the listing.......I was wondering if it meant something to you?????? Other than how many hits a coin has that is......indicative of potential bidders???? Comments?

Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

I like to see how many people have looked at the item. It gives me an idea how many people may be interested in the item.

Occasionally I'll check out the counters, but honestly I don't pay much attention to them.

  • They don't mean much to me. I think they are more there for the sellers to see how many people are looking at their auctions.

I often wonder what the sellers think when their hit counters go through the roof when their auction is mentioned in some thread here or on one of the other forums.

"Wow! 2000 people have looked at my auction today! But, why are there no bids?"

I use them, but I don't pay much attention. I start my auctions at about 20% below a fair price - this limits the bottom feeders looking for a bargain. This means that those that will actually look at my auction are the buyers I am targeting.

I turn them off when I'm selling, but I like using them when I'm buying. If I see a heavy hit count during the last few minutes of an auction, I can pretty well assume it's going to see sniping. Sometimes works.
