Hit Counters........Do they mean much to you?

tsacchtsacch Posts: 2,929 ✭✭✭
Say your looking at some coins to buy on the bay of E........you see the Andale hit counter at the bottom of the listing.......I was wondering if it meant something to you?????? Other than how many hits a coin has that is......indicative of potential bidders???? Comments?

Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

Hit counters mean nothing to me. They are too easy to fudge.

As a seller, they mean very little.

But as a potential bidder, I usually look at the counter in the last few minutes and try to get an idea of how many potential bidders may be waiting to snipe like myself? If the total bidders was say 75 at 5 minutes to go and the total shot up to 85, then that tells me that potentially 10 folks are sitting waiting to bid at the end?, doesnt mean they necesarily will, but could??

But sometimes this doesnt work, as the counter doesnt come up when you hit reload close to the end of some auctions.

  • I have a 7-day auction ending tomorrow that so far has 8 bids and 5 watchers. But if I look at the hit counter on Andale, it shows up as having 0 hits. Something doesn't quite add up...
  • The counters have been down for a week.like somebody turned em off.
however, when someone here posts a link to a POS,the counters will go ape.

  • As a buyer ??
    the counter means nothing .. nada .. squat .. diddly .. zilch .. worhless .. naught .. zero ..

    As a seller ???
The counter is an integral part of the finely weaved web of any auction. It is at the very essance of such auction that the counter comes into play. The centerpiece that may in some instances be more important then the item itself. The "hit counter" should not be looked on at as mearly or relegated to a lowly statis. As anyone who has sold anything knows the counter is the life blood of any and all important auctions ***.

***The preceeding is a paid advertisement brought to you by ANDALE .. the #1 in hit counters

I just have too much free time on my hands .. LOL ..
  • As a seller I find the "How many people are watching my auction" much more interested, although both change nothing.

Very few watchers seem to snipe at the end. About 1 in 5 or 6. Had 13 watchers once, got 1 measly bid at the end.
