Where are all the Gold 1$ collectors in the regestry

I took a look thru the registry and was amazed there were only 4-5 collecting these fine coins. They seem cheap enough in

XF - AU. Is it because there so small? Any Ideas?image

I don't know why, but size could matter. I had never seen a type 1 before today. I stopped in to my local shop and he had some, man they are tiny.
If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?

Answer: All of the gold dollar collectors in the registry are in the registry. However, most gold dollar collectors are not in the registry.

The same can be said of most series. Morgan dollars may be the most popular series, and DMPL coins are being bid up through the roof. But look at the DMPL/PL registry. Its a joke. Anyone who owns a handful of common date DMPLs can make the top ten. Even the regular Morgan series reigistry is a joke. The owners of most of the great sets out there do not care about the registry--until its time to sell and then they'll register and use their #1 or #2 raniking to hype the sale of their set.

You mean you can collect coins without posting them in the PCGS Registry? image

Ever since I acquired the 55-D I decided to try to collect type I through type II. I still have a long way to go. It isn't as easy as it looks to find nice AU53- to 58 coins that are original with good surfaces. Even in AU some of the Charlotte and Dahlonega type one's can cost $3000 to $6000. The type two's are even worse, especially the 55-D, O, and C are very difficult to find a decent looking coin. Here is a 51-C for your viewing pleasure.

I just updated my one dollar gold registry. I recently purchased a 51 AU58 and forgot to add it to the registry. I also added some scans for your viewing pleasure.
