What's the best strategy?

This isn't my auction, but I have a bunch of very similar team lots that I would like to get rid of. Each lot includes 400-500 low-value stars/semi-stars with an occasional Bonds rookie or random autograph thrown in. This guy's strategy is apparently not working, what will?

  • Team lots usually do not bring that much. What I do is make 3200 count boxes now and then (I have roughly 50,000+ cards give or take) and insert fairly high $ (and popular) rookies like Bonds, McGwire, Maddux, Mattingly, Sosa, etc., autos (of decent/known players- not those 2 guys he listed that I have never heard of), rookies, game used, and #d cards. Most of what this auction includes are commons from years where 9308038430483408 cards were made. I usually get a few hundred $/box and have several repeat buyers (though I have not done such a box in months). I also do not cherry pick/search every single card (i.e., if I open a box, I remove the players I collect- Maddux/Prior/Palmeiro/McGwire and then the other 99.99% of the box goes into the 3200 count box). You also have to consider the years listed- unless someone is a hardcore lover of their team (and even if they are), they are generally not interested in spending a lot of $ on a 1988 topps set of the mets. In my auctions, I usually list cards from 1970-present, w/a decent selection of older stars, rookies, autos, game used, and #d cards. I also break it down by item type and have a wide range of brands (i.e., not just your common/retail packs, but high $ brands like SP Authentic, Donruss Signature, Absolute Memorabilia, etc.).

Yeah I have pondered the idea of trying to move a lot of my cards that have taken over my closet, the space under my bed, all my shelves, the garage, the kitchen cabinets, etc. I have several boxes of $5+ only cards, a lot of $1-$4 cards mixed throughout tons of boxes and albums. I also have around 35,000 stars sorted in alphabetical order, such as 400-500 Ripkens, Bonds, Griffeys, etc. Also tons of commons. I don't know what the best way to try and go about moving them. I also have plenty of good stuff to maybe throw in a few nice cards. What do you all suggest?
