Why am I tied for 30th?

30 jmoran19 7.72 6.39% 0.84
30 SpikeMan 1970 Topps Set 8.00 11.39% 0.84

I can understand using the Set Rating but since I'm now at almost twice the percentage complete and better GPA why am I not considered 30 and the other guy 31.

Just curious,
Scott

Set ratings actually have more digits than what the rounded number shows. The other set is fractionally higher than yours. For example, he could be .844 and you could be .839. You would need the spreadsheet for the set to be sure.

You are not taking into account the individual card weight. Don't worry about it and just enjoy collecting your cards.

Bottom line: you have many more common cards graded - he has many more star cards or rare series graded.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

It because I have the majority of the higher weighted cards (RJ, Ryan, Rose, etc.) in my set and you don't.

  • I'm enjoying building my set. I was just curious as to how they ranked people. This is a set that seems that once I get all the commons that it will be extremely hard and slow (Probably have to jump off Ebay image to get the rest of the cards. Also by starting this set I want to build other ones now. Got the bug image

Ranking is by the final GPA figure. In this case, you both have 0.84, so you tie for 30. You'll notice that whoever is after you is #32, not 31. They don't distinguish between rankings past the second decimal point, but they seem to rank multiple people with the same score by "seniority". If JMoran had his .84 first, he gets to be 30(a) and everyone else hitting that mark will be 30(b), 30(c), etc. If you're asking why your ratings come out the same despite your better scores and completion, that's where the card weightings come in. A weight 10 star RC is worth 10 times as much as a weight 1 common when it comes to determining the ratio for the GPA, so someone with all the star cards can rank higher than someone with a load of commons in better grade.. But if you add one more card, even a PSA 5 common, you'll probably slide past him to #29.
