Here's a 1578 sixpence. What grade would this coin make and why?

    I think it's at least a Fine, and perhaps a VF (US standards, not British). I don't know if it would make a British VF. I don't see a whole lot of wear, but there does seem to be some strange scratches on the obverse, and the reverse is weak. Otherwise, it's a pretty strong strike, and well centered. Nice old patina too.

    That wear makes me think that it may have been a jewlery piece at one time,,Not unheard of.image
