Which quarter dates or rarities to look for?

A family member of mine saves like no other and I @#$% you not, He has three 5 gallon buckets filled with just quarters. He pays everything cash and has no credit cards or bank accounts. Bought his house cash after vietnam and has always just saved...enough about him. I want to know what dates or rarities to look for if he allows me to do so.

Do you know if it's older silver quarters, or just modern stuff?

What's older? What is considered old?

    1796? That's what I'd be looking for...

    Anything before 1965.

I'd only keep the quarters dated 1964 or older. They're silver.

The only other thing I'd keep an eye out for are thin, light-weight 1970-D quarters, that were struck on material meant for dimes.

    Thanks all

It will take me some time..no doubt...but will see what I can find. Anything before 1965 and a 1970 d, is this correct?
