eBay - few bids

Don't know about the rest of you...but the last 30 days on eBay has been very, very slow for bidding. When will the summer slowdown end?

I have notice that too, that is why I am not selling anything.

  • I have a few items I would like to list but the low number of bidders has made me decide to wait until late September before selling.

I struggled to get people interested all summer long, but the number of people watching my auctions has sharply increased this week. I have up to 20 people watching certain items. I can't complain.

I've noticed that prices on Washingtons seem to be receeding a bit on ebay.

I agree with both of you, that's why I haven't listed anything either..... as of yet! I suppose I really
OUGHT to list something but I have no intention of GIVING PQ coins away.

I guess I'll take advantage of this time to sort coins to be graded into categories(PQ to bulk) and learn
how to use the digital camera I just bought. Heck, I needed a break anyway! I'm thinking I might just
start selling a few odds and end out of rolls that grade between MS 63 and 65...nice coins basically at
or around Greysheet, just not worth the expense of grading. Great time to get caught up around here.

If I DO list any PQ stuff/ keys, you can bet there WILL BE reserves on them.image Good thread-Valid observationimage

I hope it's a sign of people becoming disgusted with eBay. If so, maybe eBay will become more responsive their customers (i.e. both buyers and sellers).

But seriously, you can get an eBay store & list many items at a fixed price so at least you have the exposure. Of course, it's also a great time to buy. image

I sold about 15 coins on ebay a couple of weeks ago and they all brought good money. However, the number of bids were what I would consider low for the scarcity of the issues being offered. There was one auction where a guy really took me to the cleaners on a very difficult coin...the piker!image

Mine have been staying pretty regular (you all need to feed ebay a little metamucil once in a while image ).

Good bids and plenty of watchers.

Guess I should edit to add: Good bids for what I have in the coins that are selling. I guess it might depend on what you have to have out of the coins you are selling. High dollar stuff may not be selling to good at this time. Lower end stuff is still doing well with me.

  • I had lots of interest in a scarce PR 68 DCAM 1956 proof Jefferson and was pleased with how that auction went. While not as hot as the spring this summer seems more active than last summer. At least for me.
  • Maybe I should get my dad to get that account as soon as possible.image

I agree with Carl Wohlforth. I've definitely had a BETTER selling season this summer as compared to last summer. No question.

We all know the summer is typically slower, and I've adjusted what I'm listing in the middle of the summer as opposed to the spring and fall. I organize all of the raw material I've taken in on trades, or that has just been hanging around for too long, and list it at a $1 or so, and let it fly. Not junk, but coins like an xf 1913 T1 buffalo nickel. $10-$20 coin that no one is going to get rich having, but it's not doing any good sitting in a box waiting for my next show!

Did I realize the absolute maximum amount possible on these items? No, but they are gone. image

I haven't had as much time as I'd like, or I'd be listing more of this type of material.
