Hank Aaron Oddball Card

Hello all,
I was just curious about this card I have - when it was produced, distributed, etc. Using my incredible powers of deductive reasoning I have come to the astounding conclusion that it has something to do with the March of Dimes and Kentucky Fried Chicken. I have looked on the web and in my guides for it but have not seen it listed. Hoping somebody here may be able to shed some additional light for me.

Thanks,
Adam

Did you check the Beckett Alphabetical Checklist Guide? It lists many, many oddball and regional cards which are not listed in the regular or annual Beckett guides.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
  • Good idea. I went to Beckett's site and think that this may be a 1978 Atlanta Convention Card. They didn't have a picture but it is from the time frame I believe this card was produced.
  • Can't help you identify what it is, but it is a really cool piece, nonetheless. image

Judging by the 2 company logos, I'd say this card was issued somewhere between 1976 to 1982... hope that helps a litle.

Cards from that convention were in the style of 1959 Topps.

  • There's an Ebay bidder "Atlantacardco" or something to that affect that bids on high grade Aaron stuff, they've helped me before regarding Aaron inquries. Or simply contact a player registry owner.

  • Yeah its not the 1978 card (that looks like 59's). Those cards were called 1978 Atlanta Nobis Center.

I went through the Sports Collector Digest for 2004 and looked under March of Dimes, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Atlanta, etc., and couldn't find it.

  • Thanks all,

dalew, that's a good link. I will admit it took me a few seconds to realize PSA stood for Public Service Announcement and not Professional Sports Authenticator at that site. I think I'll try contacting a few registry members and maybe the ebayer 67standup noted to see if they are familiar with it. Will let you know how it turns out.
