1969-S DDO Lincoln Cent - PCGS

Just surfing thru the price guide and noticed the prices for the 1969-S DDO. Have they always been that high? I do not remember seeing a price there before.

POPs 16 BN, 1 MS62 RB, 1 MS64 RD

Dude, nose bleed high. Most non-millioniares think it isnt needed for a full set. I seem to remember a circulated one being offered at 20K a while back. Cant remember. I pay so much less attention to coins that I cant afford.

  • LCM is right all the way! Rare, rare, rare....I'm still searching OBW rolls of these, hoping I hit the lottery. Any MS RB or RD example is my winning set of numbers. With about 544 million of the 69-S's minted, my odds are better than PowerBall, assuming they haven't all been discovered! I also want to find a 70-S DDO for the double "win"!!

One was found in change not too long ago. I believe there was an article about this coin in Coin or Coinage magazine.

Every time I see a 69-S Lincoln in change my heart races a little; someday I will find one!!!

The 69-S DDO is a really great doubled die. Much like the 55 doubled die, it can be seen from across the room unlike say the 1984 doubled die.

Price guide on this is a bit low. A MS62BN (albeit PQ) sold for $42K+ recently in a Heritage auction.

The pop reports on this date are incorrect.

Rella is right on. This die variety has been doing nothing but going up for many years, and the price guides that are not regularly updated are behind.
