Vintage football on e-bay

I have noticed the prices of vintage football skyrocket in the past week or so on e-bay. Why just a few weeks ago I bought several cards @ 40-50% of SMR. Now I can't buy anything less than SMR! Whats going on??image

unbeleivable ! A 1950 bowman YA Tittle SMR of 95$ is going for 155.00$ with over an hour to go in the auction.

Graded vintage football is more volatile then graded vintage baseball
simply because there are fewer collectors and a lot fewer cards available.

Wild price swings can occur from week to week.

On the 50 Bowmans, there are several of us that are really close to finishing our sets all at the same time. The nicely centered Bowman 8's don't come up very often... so when a set like this one pops up, the bidders tend to come out of the woodwork. This set seemed to command higher prices mainly because of the bidding wars between 3 or 4 collectors. There were many of the harder to find low pops listed, and we all went after them pretty hard. It's not always the smartest strategy in the world .... but sometimes you gotta pay to play! image
