This 1802 Bust dollar came into a local dealers shop yesterday. I have my opinions as to the coin, and I would like to see what others have to say. The dealer feels it is a rare variety with the clipped "T" Breen 5400? anything to this?
There is one scratch on the reverse at about 11:00pm, otherwise just scattered circulation marks?

Hi Jim,
A scratch or two is very common on early dollars. This one is, in my opinion, a VF25 and doesn't appear cleaned from the photo. In may be a rarer variety, but very few will pay a premium unless they are well-heeled specialists that's collecting by Breen variety.

That's a nice coin. The 1802/1 and the 1802 wide date are the rarest. It does look like the 5400 divided date. Strike me down should I venture a grade.

Seems nice.

This is a fairly common variety, normal close date, with the right foot of T missing, B-06, BB-241. According to Cardinal, the estimate surviving pop for this variety is a little over 2100, much more common than the normal wide date variety, with the right foot of T intact. The pop for this variety is 50.
BTW, my guess for the grade is VF30-35.
ignore the scratch, has NO impact on grade for me.
