incredible auction

link+
what do you guys think ?
i mean why not grade ? and do you think he can make it more clear that nobody can come to pick up the cards.
kinda makes you wonder, and no personal checks, really makes you wonder. seems to be a little shady if you ask me.
any thoughts ?

  • Well the part about home pickup is a no brainer. He just chooses to put it in the listing. I would never allow a buyer to my home to pick up an item. There are a few minor red flags here, but I can find 100 more on Ebay right now that have more red flags and still will get better bids

It's a fraud. Those cards are all slabbed in the pictures, except the backs of the Bowman cards. He stole all the scans from various places, the winning bidder will receive absolutely nothing, the seller will be NARU within seconds after receiving payment if anyone is dumb enough to pay him. No one in their right mind would list an auction like this if they truly had the cards. They would list each individually, and certainly have scans/pics of the other cards being offered, such as those mint 50 Bowman Jackie Robinson and Ted Williams cards. Or how about the 1955 Sandy Koufax & Roberto Clemente rookies, or the 55 Bowman Mantle, or the 52 Robinson & Campanella... this listing is almost as much of a joke as this one:

  • His 'from buyers' feedback only has 2.. So he's only sold two item on ebay. I would never win an auction that a lot of money if the person has sold only two items before.. even if he/she has a 2000 positive feedbacks from buying stuff themselves.. Still doesn't change the fact that they have no experiace/feedback from selling.
  • what he said.
  • Offer to meet the guy at Starbucks/a restaurant/where ever.

He's selling a 1950 Bowman set in near mint, yet he doesn't want to scan them? That makes alot of sense.

None of the cards are graded, yet the '51 Mantle is clearly in a PSA holder. Who does he think he's fooling.

    Just laughable.....

I emailed this guy yesterday... he said the cards are in cases similar to PSA holders... what a joke, no other holders look like that... I have reported it to ebay.

My guess though is that ebay won't do anything about this auction because he was at least smart enough to crop off the PSA serial numbers from the flips, so ebay really has no way to prove that he doesn't have them.
  • i emailed the topp three bidders, warning them to be carefull

  • tbis is an email i recieved from one of the high bidders in this auction.

Tell this person to notify the us postal inspectors and the fbi's internet fraud division about this auction, and to point out facts already mentioned here along with his story. Maybe they can track the seller down if it is indeed the same guy.

My request for a full scan of the '51 bowman mantles - including their case - hasn't been answered yet.
  • this is fickoffs reply to some of my questions, i'm not sure about the ebay (watching) part .but here it is.

Hello, I am taking a few minutes before my next meeting. I recieved your e-mail and I am letting you know this I can understand your concerns and I do not know what you mean by e-bay is watching this auction. I am a legit seller to be honest with you, I am getting to the point of just taking this listing down and having a professional sell them or just keep them. My father gave me all these cards they are in really good condition. I am just trying to make room. I have had alot of different changes going on in my life. I got engaged, my future wife got accepted to Law School and I really do not need the money, it would help. I am an honest man, I have no need to try to take advantage of anyone. I am getting so many e-mails, and I am really getting tired of this. If you feel more comforable, please give me a call. I will talk to you about this. My number is 1-917-804-3660. I will try to answer all questions. I am going to be in and out of meetings, but if you leave your number.Hello, I am taking a few minutes before my next meeting. He's had a lot of changes...engaged...wife going to law school...yet he "doesn't need the money" ? Then why point out those expensive, life changing events? Seems like a big babbler to me. Gotta love the "I'm getting tired of this...I'm going to take it down and have someone else sell it for me or just keep it" Which is precisely the same excuse given by every other scammer...

Funny how stupid criminals think alike. image

    1) Everything listed in the auction is what you will recieve. I am probably going to include some extra cards to the winner, I am really trying to make space.

How much freakin' space do 3,000 unslabbed cards take up?

    Dear Mr. Vargha
I am a real honest person and I have these cards which belonged to my dear dad. We have a very small home, which we also inherited and were keeping the cards in mayonaise jars which was taking up considerable amount of space. My fiancee has a trememdous aversion to the jars due to some traumatic childhood event having something to do with her 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Hellmann, and his vestigial third limb. We also have to make room for my Wayne Newton orthotic shoe and Jerry Vale snow globe collection. So as you can see we is not scammers. Feel free to call me tonite at the P%ssycat lounge and pizza emporium.

Now he's relisted the auction and added ANOTHER '51 Bowman Mantle.

Man, it must be great when you can just find those things lying around the house. Why bother with law school?

He also adds that the cards aren't in graded card holders. OK, pal, whatever you say.
