Smithsonian Collection:can it still be viewed?

MercMerc Posts: 1,646 ✭✭
Ok, now the Smithsonian collection is no longer on public display, is it possible for an individual to view it? I have read books where individuals have been allowed to view the collection for research. How is that done? Do you need to be a fameous coin person to get to see it?

The Smithsonian is very committed to numismatic research and to our community. Anyone doing "legitimate research" has a good chance of getting access to the collection.
