Kareem (Lew Alcindor) Rookie....value?!?!

I was at a flea market tucked away in a little town close to my home and noticed they had a pretty good looking Kareem Rookie card. What should I be willing to pay for this card? I would imagine I could probably walk out with it for $125-$150.......I didnt stand there and drool over it cause I didnt want to look TOOOOO interested. I would say the card would grade a VERY solid 8....either way it is in Awesome condition for such a odd shaped card. To be honest that is the first time I have seen a vintage card shaped like that. Ive looked at the BV on it but was just wondering what the ACTUAL price is. I kinda looked on ebay but it was real hit and miss on prices.

Thanks for all your help. You guys are great!!

  • What do you mean when you say it was an odd shaped card?

    Refs- Just ask!

  • It is noticably taller than most cards.

It is one of the Topps "Tall Boys". They are tough to find in good shape like that. Did the dealer have any other vintage? You may want to take the card out of the case and check it out, make sure to check the thickness of the stock. If it is very thin it is one of the new wave of counterfeits selling on ebay. I know they are counterfeiting the second year card.
  • Thank You I will keep that in mind. I dont think the lady that runs the flea market even knows what they are worth..... She has a couple of other cards there was a 59 Topps (Not For Sure on the year) Mickey Mantle that doesnt look to be in too bad of shape but it is not Mint by any means. But my knowledge of vintage cards does not run too deep. I appreciate the tip on the card stock though.
