Am I being Picky???

Hello all,

I have been running across pcgs graded Mercury Dimes that have a certain collection moniker on the grade slip.

IE- Eliasberg collection.

I dont want a coin that was marked this way.
Is that strange or should I just ignore it and buy it anyway.

Just curious what everyone thinks.

Smiles72, you should be able to pay a small re-holdering fee and have the pedigree removed, if it bothers you. Picky? Maybe, but it's your right.image

Depends- are you having to pay a premium? If not, I personally wouldn't care.... and when it comes time to resell, somebody else may want it there and pay more for that......

I'm curious, do you now who Eliasberg was? I ask because your post count indicates you are new here and I can't tell how long you have been collecting.
  • The Eliasberg Pedigree is a pretty well sought after pedigree, and many will pay a premium because of the pedigree... on the other hand, some pedigrees (IE Benson which has flooded the market on Mercurys) are so abundant that they shouldn't command a premium, though they still do seem to... I recently bought a Benson Merc for my set, and only because I liked the coin and got it for regular price levels...

  • I would be picky about the coin. I wouldn't care about the pedigee on the label.
