I have an interest in purchasing a 1960 Topps baseball vending box. What is the approx price on the box?

  • First I would say good luck finding one!

You won't be able to find one - and if you did, it would be in a place like Mastro. Look at Mastro's current auction and track the prices realized for the 1960/1961 vending and use that as a proxy for your football vending box. Use the price of commons of each set to work your way backwards to the football price. But, bottom line - you're not going to find one, even if you start throwing crazy money around.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

  • To clarify my question regarding the 1959 Topps football box, The box actually exists and I would like to get an idea of approx. how much it's worth. I realize this is quite a rare find and would like some insight into the set from the fooball collectors out there. Rick

I have never seen one and if you were to compare the relative box to vending box cost and do a little 'creative' math, it could be anywhere in the 12K to 20+K range? Series II pack at 250$/6 cards (50$/card) for a reference.
    This is a stupid guestimate.

My guess is that it would bring 25 k to 50 k at auction. Hard to say,
since I can't remember seeing any football vending boxes from the '60s, let alone the '50s.

  • I would not be so quick to say a vending box can not be found.

About four years ago, I purchased a couple of raw '59 football on eBay. After the cards arrived (they were very nice), I asked the seller if he had more available. He stated that he had a partial vending box that he had puchased in the 1970's. After conversing via email, I emailed a want list of about 25 cards. He was kind enough to send me multiple copies of most cards on my list so that I could choose the best examples. Alll the cards were mint vending cards, but of course, some had typical printing and cutting flaws.
  • I have about 75 cards that would grade PSA 8 or so they are all pack fresh let me know because I was planning to send them in for grading. They are the nicest vintage FB cards I have sold and they are clean if you want them

I submitted a few at sportsfest to GAI for raw review they got 8's and 8.5 so they are legit and I know how to grade the vintage items

Boy, I thought some threads were already hard enough to follow. Now, initial posts and titles are changing. I expect everyone else to update your responses based on the new title/initial post. image
