This "1873 CC" Quarter is a Philadelphia minted coin that has been altered by the addition of the Carson City mintmark.
On the genuine 1873 CC Seated Quarter, on the obverse, the right arrowhead slants up.
On the reverse, the CC's are placed, one on each side of the feather tip.
On this altered piece, both CC's are placed to the right of the feather tip, in the crotch between the feather tip and stem.

Edited: I sent the seller a message that this is a bad piece. The message bounced back as undeliverable. Apparently his E-mail address is incorrect.

What will they think of next?
I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.
Always looking for nice type coins
my local dealer
Lanlord; It is the 1873 CC no arrows that has only a half dozen or so known examples. The with arrows is the more common of the 2 varieties, though it may well be the rarest collectable Liberty Seated Quarter.

Nice feedback rating the guy has, by the way. The fact that anyone bids on this person's auctions with feedback like that is proof that P.T. Barnum was right.
Dear lathmach,
You asked:
"This is a Philadelphia minted coin with added mintmark. The CC are not in the correct position for a genuine 1873 CC Quarter. Ray ------- Liberty Seated Collectors Club #1395"
that was originally my thought, so i went to an authorized dealer for a second opinion - he confirmed its authenticity

Uh Huh. Ya sure you did. You lying sack.

And he had a bidder on at $12,500, too.
I woulda bet he'd have kept the auction up hoping for the big payday, (that he wasn't gonna get).

If only they could make it say "The auction was ended early because this coin is counterfeit or altered."
Here's a quarter:

"i bought this at an auction where it was advertised as just an 1873, but i had a hunch and it paid off"
Translation:
"I bought an 1873, and added the mintmark myself, and now it will pay off!"
Yes, I am sure the previous auctioneer failed to notice that it had a CC mintmark.
