Quarter with added mintmark on Ebay

This "1873 CC" Quarter is a Philadelphia minted coin that has been altered by the addition of the Carson City mintmark.
On the genuine 1873 CC Seated Quarter, on the obverse, the right arrowhead slants up.
On the reverse, the CC's are placed, one on each side of the feather tip.
On this altered piece, both CC's are placed to the right of the feather tip, in the crotch between the feather tip and stem.

Edited: I sent the seller a message that this is a bad piece. The message bounced back as undeliverable. Apparently his E-mail address is incorrect.

Cosmicdebris; The coin you have pictured is a Dollar Coin.

Lanlord; It is the 1873 CC no arrows that has only a half dozen or so known examples. The with arrows is the more common of the 2 varieties, though it may well be the rarest collectable Liberty Seated Quarter.

They can't even stop the flood of obviously fake Trade Dollars. Why would I think they would stop a *genuine* coin which was altered to add the mintmark?

Nice feedback rating the guy has, by the way. The fact that anyone bids on this person's auctions with feedback like that is proof that P.T. Barnum was right.

Dear lathmach,

You asked:

that was originally my thought, so i went to an authorized dealer for a second opinion - he confirmed its authenticity

I woulda bet he'd have kept the auction up hoping for the big payday, (that he wasn't gonna get).

Yes, I am sure the previous auctioneer failed to notice that it had a CC mintmark.
