My first coin grades came in

I have the results from PCGS on my first 4 submissions. Yes it's the 4 free ones you get when you join. And I must say I am pleased with my results, of three that is. One is not as I had hoped for, but three out of four on my first sub. is more than enough to make my day. I will list the coins I sent with the grades I had hoped for, then the grades they made. image

1 .. 1968-D Roosie my grade .. MS68FB
2 .. 1967 Roosie my grade .. MS66FB
3 .. 1994-P Roosie my grade .. MS67FB
4 .. 1995-D Roosie my grade .. MS67FB

now this is what they scored

1 .. 1968-D Roosie PCGS MS68FB
2 .. 1967 Roosie PCGS MS66
3 .. 1994-P Roosie PCGS MS67FB
4 .. 1995-D Roosie PCGS MS67FB

I had planned on putting these coins in my set, but have since had some very nice offers for two of them. Anyone else interested, make me an offer before next Tue. Aug. 10 th. I will be leaving town Wed. Aug.4th
to attend my son's graduation from the Navy Training Center in Great Lakes Ill. I don't have the coins in hand, as many have asked, but they should be here by the time I return. PCGS has emailed me that they have been shipped. Thanks Dan.

    Dan50...EXCELLENT GRADES!!!!

Do you realize just how difficult it is to obtain an MS68FB from PCGS let alone a 1968-D. I sent my absolute best 68-D in and received a MS67FB, so my hats off to you.

    Later,
    Paul.

Thanks Paul.. Yes, I know the early years of clads are tough in FB's. And believe me when I say I looked long and hard finding all these. Being new at trying to grade coins, I looked at hundreds of coins, then I would go look at my registry again. Then back to looking through the raw stuff, on and on. I think it helped me a lot starting off with the wrong size loupe also. I was grading these things with 16X before I started reading a lot of the threads on here. When someone mentioned 5X for grading it sure made the coins look a lot nicer. image But by that time I had selected a lot of coins that looked pretty good under 16X, so when I dropped down to 5 I found I had a lot of nice ones set aside for a second look. I still have over a hundred coins that I think are nice enough to submit. These are a mixture of .01 to $1.00 Ikes and SBA's. I can't wait untill I can afford to have them all graded. I just hope it's not down hill from here. image

Especially the 68-D and 95-D! Looks like that streetcar or trolley thingie that is your icon is definitely on the right track!

Consider yourself fortunate that they didn't screw you over by assigning the SMS moniker to your 67. So often, they err on the 65-67 coins. A couple yrs ago I pulled several 1965 and 1967 gems from OBW rolls only to have PCGS missattribute them as SMS coins. I know others have suffered the same way as well.

Now that you know you have a good eye, pick out two each of a few tougher dates from your gem-box, pay to get them graded and then sell off the duplicates to pay for the whole kit and kaboodle. With talent like yours, soon you will be rolling in dough!

ps- after looking at your icon agin', I guess it's a motor home

  • Congratulations on the great grades! Having 3 of 4 come back as expected is excellent and not common even for people who have made dozens of submissions. If you can get a few more MS 68 FBs you can sell them and finance more submissions.

    WOW!

Sell the 68-D and you could afford to send in all the others for grading.

Most of the offers so far, are for the 1995-D MS67FB. The reason for this is, there currently is only one FB awarded by PCGS in all grades for this mint/year. Mine is the second, and tied with first at 67. So it's the FB thats rare in this year/mint, not so much the grade. And when you are doing the dime thing..
It's the FULL BANDS that keep our FULL HEADS climbing the FULL STEPS instead of falling on our FULL SPLIT BEAKS..

  • So, Dan, you made a '95-D FB. Do you think that will continue to be a tough date for fully struck Roosies?
  • onlyroosiesonlyroosies Posts: 3,300 ✭✭✭✭
I have yet to see a 95D with fully split bands. The 95D comes with a uni - band, One solid
band across the bottom. I've seen quite a few clad roosies with the FB designation that
are not full split bands. Most of these were graded some time ago and though PCGS seems to
have cracked down I'm betting Dan's coin is an all there coin.
