Spanish colonial, made in Central and South America, the top one is a one real and I think the bottom one is a half-real, the ancient and foreign forum will no doubt give you a more specific answer, but you might also find out more here, good luck

  • Spanish Colonial, both look to have a Mexico City Mint Mark. The M with the little o over it.
The bottom one has a better mintmark wheras the top one is worn down a lot.
This is off the top of my poor little head so I could be in error though.
Like he stated above they look like 1 real and 1/2 real coins hard to tell though for sure.

These types of coins were actually used a lot as money in the early USA, especially in the southern and western areas.
It's where the phrase "two bits, four bits, eight bits a dollar" comes from.
    8 reals = one dollar
    1 real = twenty cents
1/2 real = ten cents or a dime (disme)

Yes Spanish colonial, both from Mexico.. The 1800 is a 1 reale, the denomination (1R) is next to the mintmark. Th 1757, since it is smaller, is probably a half reale but I don't see the denomination on it.
  • I have had several of these in different denoms for a number of years. I have really enjoyed having them in my collection. These did circulate in parts of the US.
  • Herre is one I found with a mteal detector in southeast Georgia.....Shows some of the details a little better..
