murcerfan or colt - is this legit?

  • This is a REPRINT. These used to be listed on ebay on a regular basis and sold as reprints, but I haven't seen any in a while. This guy either stumbled on to it and doesn't know what he is doing, or is trying to swindle someone. My guess is the latter, especially since this is being listed with a 9.99 starting bid and no reserve. Stay away.

    It's over $400 now.

Colt - I was shown this piece at the National by a passerby (don't know if it is the same seller - but it is the same piece). I too thought it was fake as it had the faint markings of tape on the back - yet it was smooth. However, looks like Louisbollman either knows something we don't, or he is unaware of this being a fake. What do you think?

The seller is solid, and the 2 top bidders (Louis Bollman and Phil Regil) certainly know their stuff. The back scan makes it look handcut, and with the writing on their would seem to indicate it is some sort of proof or file copy.
It would be interesting to see if this comes up again for sale in a few months, and in what form.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

The tape "stains" on the back seem to be a problem for me. The back is smooth as a regular card - yet it shows all those former tape stains. The story though is that this piece was used as a display to buy these in the store.
