Is anyone else doing well with 2004 Donruss Classics football?

Here I was telling everyone that Donruss Elite would be the best early season football product, but I don't think there was one good box of Elite at the store. Donruss Classics has been the opposite, I don't think we've sold one bad box. There are a bunch of solid two and three player jerseys of Hall of Famers that are bringing solid money on ebay. There's been a 1/10 triple patch of Staubach, Dorsett, and Sanders, a triple jersey of Favre, Starr, and Nitschke, dual jersey of Payton and Butkus, dual AUTO redemption of Parcells/Jimmy Johnson, a Bradshaw patch #/100 and some other sweet pulls. The one downside is that over half the AUTO's have been redemptions, but the pulls I've seen have made it one of the better if not the best NFL product I've seen in the last two years. Anyone else having luck, or are my good boxes just coincidence?

Classics has been good...to other people. Not so much to me. I've done ok with it. I've bought on 4 separate occassions... 3 mini boxes and 1 full box. so a total of 5 mini boxes. 2 Redemption autos, a chad johnson platinum auto #/25, a Deacon Jones auto #/75... Csonka was my best jsy the rest of my gu have been mediocre. Elite was great for me... Pulled the Manning triple auto, but aside from that, it was kind of a bust. I did get 2 Fitz rookies and a Perry rookie in my 3 boxes though. Again, gu was mediocre.

I loved both products in baseball this year. They were both good to me IMO.

Now leaf cert baseball has been a bust for me...3 boxes and about $100 back. But...Whad'ya do?

I bought 2 mini boxes of Donruss Classics and got a Michael Irvin Jersey and a T.O. 3 color jersey.

Best rc was a Larry Fitzgerald /500

I busted a Box and 5 packs of SP GU

The box had 2 GU per pack, nothing big thought. Dual Jersey of Urlacher and Grossman

The Five Packs had Alexander Jersey, Favre Jersey, Manning/James/Harrison Triple Jersey /25, Brunell/Portis Dual Jersey, and Robert Gallery Auto

    I also pulled 2 Ben Roethlisberger RC's
  • I haven't busted any myself, but I love the dual auto cards of the coaches (past and present combo). If only DLP never went down the bandaid auto road, they'd hands-down be the top auto producer ...

P.S. Jason - thanks for the Tom Mack auto. I'm gonna be in Vega$ "on business" for a few days in October, I'll be sure to stop by the store and check it out ... though your delivery service is very tempting image.
  • I have broken myself of the never-ending cycle of pack addiction. ( I taped a GU patch on my arm and it worked...cured in a day )

But seriously, I can't keep up with all those new products which seem to come out week in and week out.

I have enough of a hard time trying to complete my vintage Topps sets.

I just bought 2 boxes of Donruss Classics and didn't do too bad. I pulled a Marino jersey and Curtis Martin jersey and also two auto redemption cards. One auto was for Sammy Baugh and the other is TBD. I'm confused because both redemption cards state that the auto's are "2004 Significant Signatures Platinum" - but no such auto's are listed on the odds schedule. Are these 1/1???

As usual I feel classics is overprice with little chance of "breaking even" on pack pulls.
