I have three that I will send in the conventional method but the 4th one is in a slab from across the street. I really don't feel like cracking it out. I wonder if it's OK to send them this way? One in the slab and 3 in the regulation 2 1/2 x 2 1/2. Anybody ever tried this and know for sure if it's OK or not, one way or the other? Thanks!

You're talking about being 90% complete on a registry set, right? I'm getting close to 90% and was wondering the same thing...

I don't think they will appreciate it but you never know what they will say unless you try it.

You can't mix crossover and grading on the same form.

Yeah, I see what you mean about the crossover bit. I hadn't even thought of that. I suppose the only way other than cracking it out would be to write some sort of note stating, " grade the slabbed coin acording to PCGS standards" and to just tell the truth by saying that I'm not comfortable cracking the coin out.

Well, it's either 1) Try 2) Call Customer Service and ask or 3) Introduce Mr. Slab to Mr. Tabled Vice Grip and crack him out real carefully. I could always try Russ' proven effective way and just whack the head off with a hammer..... sounds like a plan!

If you want to send it in like a crack-out coin, but not actually do it, are you prepared to get your slabbed coin back in a body bag? If so, then with a properly written note, PCGS should accept your slabbed coin. They will, of course, remove it from the slab BEFORE grading. Steve
