Question for you vending collectors out there. Say you were to buy some vending boxes for say, 1984 Topps. Are there usually doubles in the boxes or are there pretty much just 500 different cards?
Just curious if it has happened before that a person opened one of these and got a few Mattingly RC's.
If it is possible for 19 bucks a box it seems very reasonable.
Just Curious,
Glen

You can get dups in vending, but its not something that I would take to the bank. More times than not there just commons. I've gone through 80, 81, 82, 83, 85, 86, 87, 88 and 89 topps vending looking for Ryans, superstars, HOF's, and rookies, sometimes you get a few good dup's, sometimes you don't get hardly anything your looking for, and once in a blue moon you hit a loaded box. Its basically a crap shoot and even if you get what your looking for chances are the condition of the card(s) will be bad. Others out there will have gone through significantly more than I, but I would imagine that the results would be similar.

Collecting Nolan Ryan cards (68-94)
It's a crapshoot on selection and condition - on a 79T vending - no Oz or Ryan which were key to me. Or you can get lucky - on a 78T got both key RC's and a 2nd yr Dawson. Have never gotten dups on RC's myself. And as you said, depending on the year, the condition of the cards can be really bad including poor centering.

2nd box from a different source yielded much better collation in stars and semi-stars AND much better condition. keeping my fingers crossed for a few 10's....got this one from gatorbonnie.
