What do you think about this date for my type set and condition to grade?

You know this is a Liberty Seated dollar and not a Trade dollar, yes?

My vf35 looks to have less wear. Maybe it started with a weak strike image
  • that's not a Trade DOLLAR, back to your Red Book image. i would suggest you not bid unless you want a seated liberty.

Had one of those moments and put up Trade dollar instead of Seated.

    Have a 1846 O Seated Dollar PCGS AU50 and a 1873 S Trade Dollar PCGS AU53.

Would send this coin to PCGS for crossover.

This is a much better date and mint than the typical type set coin. If it's just a type coin that you are looking for, a very nice 1846, 1847, or 1871 should be available for less money than this coin will likely sell.

waste of time to worry about "cross over", whatever. it's an average xf coin!

Wouldn't buy it as a 45. Looks more like a 35 to me. Too flat a head on the obverse and too much wear on the shield. Reverse looks better but coins should receive the grade of the side with the most wear.
    All glory is fleeting.
