Check out the eagle on this commem. The most fierce expression on an eagle I have ever seen. Wow.

I recently purchased this commem. With the forthcoming Olympics, my thirst for Olympic coinage is being rekindled. ,but checkout the expression on this Eagle's face., now that is fierce. Wow!!!!, Your thoughts?

  • Wingedliberty, I purchesed a coin like that afew years ago. Not slabbed. What attracted my eye was the discus thrower on the obverse. I really didnt care for the eagle. Bob

I like the obverse discus thrower also, the design conveys a sense of movement. I like coins that flow like that and convey a sense of motion.

A few years back I saw the Obverse (The Eagle) in a shop and said I'll take one of those, I didn't even know what was on the back. I LOVE coins with Eagles on them. Especially US COins.

Although, the Germans have had some pretty nice coins with eagles on them over the past few centuries image

You can even go as far back as Egypt, Greece, and Rome and find superb eagle designs that inspired later European coinage and eventually our own. Pay specific attention to Ptolemic Egypt and Moussolini's Italia.
