Looks to be a very clean and lusterous 03-o, Ill say ms-65 also!

63-64. The obverse picture has a lot of light reflection making it hard to see the surface well.
  • Jeff, that's a nice 03-O. The luster looks great! I'll give it a 65+, the + for eye appeal. Good luck and keep us posted.

    Placid,

I know what you mean about the reflection. This is the best I got after about 30 shots each of both sides. It was one of the few that captured the luster and hair detail. Still working with the camera shots. I'm sure Jeremy could make it look better. There are only the absolute smallest of luster breaks on the obverse.

Thanks to all for their comments.

MS65, looks very similar to the one I'm hoping to pick up tomorrow....trading in a poorly dipped '03 plus some cash to pick up this NGC 65. I'm just hoping it's still there.
    Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.

    Here's what I suggest:

Place the coin down and take one incandescent desk lamp at around 10 o'clock--position it so the lustre really shows in the LCD of your camera. Then, take another desk lamp and place it right next to the first lamp--at around 12 o'clock... move them slightly until you pull off a double-cartwheel. It'll show great lustre, and show the surfaces well, too. Here's an example of the method:

Some coins are harder to split into two distinct cartwheels... this Franky was easy:

I see quite a few little ticks, I'll say 64. It has nice luster.

Average strike, for an O mint morgan. A little scrub on the lower jaw may keep it from a 65 at NGC. Otherwise, attractive and good eye appeal. MS-64 for sure. JMO image
